Passport validity Greece

Hi 
I currently hold a UK passport that was issued on Dec 2013 and expiry on Sept 2024.. I’m booked to go to Greece in June, as far as I can understand my passport is valid and won’t cause any issues as it will have been issued under 10 years old by the time I’m away and will be valid at least 3 months after the day I plan to leave Greece. Is this correct or have I misunderstood something? Cheers Si

Hi Si

You are correct - for the EU including Greece your passport must meet 2 seperate rules 

Your passport must meet 2 requirements. It must be:

• less than 10 years old on the day you enter (check the ‘date of issue’),

 • valid for at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave (check the ‘expiry date’) 

You don't say the exact date you leave Greeece or the date your Passport expires but from what you say above I assume the June date is greater than the sep date eg issued 15th you leave Greece 12th etc

You should be fine as long as the person on the check in desk in the UK actually understands the rules.  Hopefully they now do as this has been in force for a couple of years.

Thanks for the reassurance, MATTR5 just to clarify the date of issue is 8th Dec 2013 and date of Expiry is 8th Sept 2024. We are due to travel on 9th June for 7night. This sounds fine after your feedback?

Ah Ive just realised you are going June 2023 and your Passport doesn't expire until Sep 24 - I read it wrong before 

Yes you are 100% fine - you've got almost a year left on it

Just for info, the last time you can enter the EU on that Passport is 7th Dec 2023 and if you fly in 2024 the last date you can be in the EU is 7th Sep 2024

Surely you meant to say that the last day the OP could be in the EU is 7th June 2024 (3 months before expiry on 7th Sept)?
