I bought this box as a birthday gift for my daughter at the beginning of May. It contains 5 mini perfumes and a voucher for £30 discount off a full size version of one of the minis. I told my daughter I would buy her a full sized fragrance after she'd tried them and decided which one she wanted.

Daughter has since tested the perfumes and made her decision. I've tried to order one of the perfumes, but the discount voucher is coming up as invalid.

I contacted customer services and was told this is because the perfume currently has a 10% off code that can be entered at the checkout. Therefore I cannot use my £30 off voucher because it's only set up to accept the 10% voucher. I've been told I can buy the perfume and use the 10% off code.

10% is a lot less than £30 and the 10% code is valid for anyone who wants to buy perfume.

Can they do this? I wouldn't have bought the box if I had been told in advance that the £30 exclusive discount would change to 10% off that anyone can use. We can't return the box now as she's used the products.

The Hut have never been famed for their customer service.

Such vouchers might have a clause saying not to be used with other offers but given you presumably have the choice not to enter the 10% at checkout it seems very poor. 

You could try their social media, they appear to reply to comments on Facebook.

I don't know when the 10% offer ends. I can't find an end date. 

They have random codes on stuff all of the time though.

I've finally heard back from them. My discount voucher will not work when they are running a promotion on the perfume. I cannot ignore the onscreen promo code and use my personal code.

The 10% off everything offer finished and was immediately replaced with a 5% off everything offer. Now there's a discount for Beauty+ members. I'm not a Beauty+ member but because the offer is there, I cannot use my voucher.

I've been told to wait and keep checking until the perfume doesn't have an offer on it. They cannot tell me when this will be.

Really disappointed as I wouldn't have bought the box if I'd known I'd be so restricted on spending the voucher.

If there was no time between the 10% and 5% offer so impossible to use the £30 voucher then I'd challenge them over mis-selling.

How much were the 5 perfumes plus voucher? 

I'd ask them to specify when you WILL be able to use the voucher and if they can't say then ask for a £30 refund.

It was £30 for the box plus the voucher. The perfumes are just samples - 5ml and 2ml sizes. The kind you would get free in Boots etc.

I've been checking every day for about three weeks now, but there's been an offer on everyday. Daughter would like the perfume to wear at her school prom, hence wanting to buy it sooner rather than later.

I will reply and ask when I will be able to use the voucher.

Bet the yare using a 3rd party company for support, who will have no idea when changes take place.

Just an update: I still was unable to use the perfume voucher as they had a 5% off code on everything and couldn't tell me when the end date would be.

I asked for a £30 credit note, citing it was unfair selling me a voucher that I was unable to spend, and eventually I was given £30 credit.

Daughter has since been in Boots smelling perfumes with a friend and found a different perfume she really liked, so we were able to order that one with the credit and she's over the moon with it.

I wouldn't buy another scent box or any of the other gift boxes with a voucher following this experience though.
