Hi everyone

i hope you are having the same fabulous weather we are having in Dorset.

I have some lovely roses in containers and I’ve noticed they’ve got a bit of black spot.  Can anyone recommend the best treatment for it.  I know there are commercial sprays but I don’t know enough about it to just buy something or find something a bit more organic

You can spray but it will only slow the problem down for the season and it will return.
Raking, clearing all fallen leaves, spray  and a thick mulch over will have a longer effect.
Or just let it be and put up with the effect. I guess it depends on size, area etc you want to deall with.

I pick off and clear, water and feed when I have the time. Primarily i buy the older varieties. 1850s - 1960s as they tend not to be susceptible.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

the best spray I have found is Roseclear. But you need to start spraying as soon as growth begins and repeat  per isnstructions.

pick of any diseased leaves an destroy. Do not put on compost hep.

I also spray stems and ground around the base of the rose.

It is a fungus that is i airborne so impossible to prevent, you can only try to control it..

Healthy roses will withstand it better.

Old type roses are less susceptible to it.
