"Today you did the bravest thing ".by Debbie GaskinToday you did the bravest thing, today you set me free.
Thank you for showing me the ultimate dignity.
I'm sorry that my leaving has broken your kind heart.
But we knew this day would come, the day we had to part.
Don't think I did not hear every last word you said.
Don't think I did not feel your trembling hand touch my head.
Today you did the bravest thing, today you set me free.
Thank you for a wonderful life,
thank you for loving me. ❤

Sadly today the time arrived.
So, my oldie hound (16) is no more. She didn't want to get out of bed and only took a few steps outside the front door so I had to do the dreadful deed. I was lucky in that I got possibly the first appointment and a friend took me to the vet in their 'dog van.' I took my other hound as well so that he could witness the sad event and so far he hasn't hunted for her.
She was the 'replacement' for the real Katiehound.
It's so strange with only my boy.
A miserable dayBeing polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Sorry Katiehound.
You know you did the kindest thing but it is so hard.

People are so lovely on here especially when holding our virtual hand when it’s time to let our beloved pet go.I was in this position a year ago when my beloved little Squeaky came to the end of her life. She was 20, that’s her in my avatar.2

So sorry Katiehound. It's absolutely devastating, even when you know that it's the right decision.2

A belated commiserations.I wished we'd taken our oldest cat with us when we lost our previous cat.She regarded her as a 'mummy' even though she wasn't. We think she called out for her even a year later for mummy to come home. She also blames our youngest for being the reason for 'mummy's departure' (he arrived 3 days after she left us but was coming as an addition).May you find your sister soon Helli.

I decided that it was time to put my beloved lab down when he became doubly incontinent, couldn't manage the stairs, didn't seem to be able to see well and looked miserable all the time. I think the latter was the clincher.0
