Hi. My monzo app is trying to access my personal info over 300 times a day. It is being passed to 3 external companies. There is no opt out. I use duckduckgo as a browser and it blocks the attempts. The chase banking app does the same. Meta has been fined for a similar practice. I dont expect banks to monetise my info

You do not use a browser to access an app.
I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.

It appears to be in the T&C

I think apps can use embedded browsers (eg. I often see a browser page embedded into the gmail app).
But, I thought they defaulted to the device provider's default app eg. safari / chrome / samsung?

Oh dear, there seems to be a lot of confusion here. Privacy defending browsers, like DuckDuckGo, will automatically block 3rd party cookies and scripts, then display notifications about how effective they are. However, the modern internet is built on interdependent services, many of which aren't there for the purpose of "stealing info". Even if you opt out of the advertising services, you will still get the notifications about other services, such as the hosted in-app features.

To clarify, my browser includes app tracking protection and scans apps for trackers. Pretty normal really. 3 companies are trying to access info from the app. What they want? I dont know cos monzo wont tell me. I do not get any tracker alerts from my main banking app. So i suppose i am asking why the app is collecting any info for 3rd parties. I dont want this, its my data. This is not conspiracy theory. This is happening to me in the uk, gdpr, but the companies trying to get my data have USA branches. So, r u all happy with that? Courts in europe do not agree with this practice, just dont use google to look it up, they will track you lol

Oh, the legal disclaimer says "includes" so it does not reveal the full extent, so not really true consent, tnx elsein for the link. Masonic, your comments are valid but you do not know what info is being collected. Lots of us are conversant in how the internet works and the vaue of our data,  I welcome false negatives as they might just keep me right. My choice, my data

How do you get notification of this?

I use the Chase app and DDG as a browser and have never had any indication from DDG that anything untoward is happening.

I know that Chase may use data in certain areas but that isn't linked to browser activity.

So 300 is about once every 10 mins.
Sounds like it's running as a background app, for faster loading. If you force close, it won't be able to.

Ddg has an app tracker add on, ive installed it so long ago cant remember the sequence, it should be in the faq, obs there are other app trackers out there, maybe someone can recommend. If u have a vpn it might be running in the background blocking for u.

Cheers born again, i just want an app that doesnt spy on my spending and no hassel using it.
