Balance transfer not going through and now on both credit cards

I can't find a similar post, so I was wondering if anyone with a similar experience or knowledge on the subject could advise?  After moving house and buying a few things on my existing TSB credit card, I took out an HSBC credit card and afterwards applied to transfer the balance from my TSB card which had £1500  on it.  This was done on the HSBC app on 1 May and after a few days the balance appeared on my HSBC card.  Unfortunately, as of today 29 May, it’s still also on my TSB credit card and I’m about to cop a load of interest.  I called HSBC after the first week and they said my TSB card needed a minimum payment paid first, which I took care of.  This didn’t change a thing.  I went into an HSBC branch the week after and was told they didn’t deal with credit cards and they sent me to the TSB just around the corner.  The TSB had no record of a settlement but logged it as a “missing payment”.  I waited a week and then called HSBC back.  They confirmed that the original application was successful and that the TSB card details were correct but there was no reason why it hadn’t been paid, so a dispute has been raised and I’ll hear in another 10 WORKING DAYS!  I took this card to save me money and now it’s costing me even more.  I had one credit card with a £1500 balance and now I have two! Each bank seems to be blaming the other and I’m having to now pay 2 minimum balance payments at the end of this month. This is genuinely affecting me financially and mentally.  I thought banks were supposed to help people whereas I feel like HSBC have charged me money without actually paying the other card.

Normally it's the sending bank that is supposed to trace the missing transfer. In this case it's HSBC.
  • Thanks very much.  I assumed that was the case but I'm trying to think as impartially as possible. The original application to HSBC took weeks to approve, to the point that I had to call them back to see if they'd received it.  A bit unacceptable to not allocate me a debt of over £1500 and not even pay the other card.
