Asking price for 10 year old Berlingo

Looking to vent..

I'm pretty sold on buying a Citroen Berlingo (because of practicality, versatility, good head room & space in rear, with potential to convert to a Micro camper)

Currently looking at a Citroen Berlingo 2013 diesel (Euro 5) 110 BHP, 36k miles, with FSH and 3 owners. It's priced at £7,750 from a trader.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around paying nearly £8k for an almost 10 year old vehicle with 3 previous owners- but anything else with low mileage & SH (apart from dodgy ex-taxis with "replacement speedos" showing 35k mileage) is over £9k.

And it hasn't even got the one option I really want - cruise control (decided to compromise on this as it can be retrofitted).

Is there a temporary spike in prices for certain vehicles, or is this the new normal for second-hand cars?

That seems about right in the present market. 3k miles per year is a bit low for a diesel. You might do better continuing to look for something with average mileage

Used car prices are bonkers at the moment, particularly for stuff like the Berlingo which is popular for the reasons you want one. Really popular here for minicabs, gardeners, childminders, dog walkers and so on since it's essentially a passenger carrying van.

That's nothing - in Swansea there is a 64 plate Volvo on a forecourt being sold for £16,500

Remortage your house of sell all of your belongings lol.

Van prices are crazy at the moment, a long with cars. Not uncommon to see a 10-13 year old van with 180k plus miles on it going for over 6k at the minute. Even hire prices at the moment are sky high.
