RYANAIR - SKYWAY ROBBERY!

Be very careful when flying Ryanair.
Even when their own app isn't working, preventing you from checking in online, they will still charge you for checking in at the airport.
Ryanair charged me an extra €165 to get me and my family home, even though it was their app that was at fault. €165 to print off 3 pieces of card!!!
This isn't a charge, it's a ransom. Pay up or you can't go home.
Here's an idea Ryanair, why don't you charge realistic prices for your flights, then you wouldn't need to con the life blood of your business out of extra money they can ill afford.
When I complained to Ryanair, I received an email explaining to me how to use the online check in, the same online check in I used for my outbound flight, the same online check in I tried to use for my return flight, the same online check in that wasn't working for my return flight. Presumably a stock response to fob off their most valuable asset, their customers.
I'm sure there are other budget airlines out there with more scruples than Ryanair.

That is a key part their business model though, very cheap headline fares with extra charges for everything.  And for all the bad press, bad reviews, etc the market seems to have decided that's what it wants as they've become the largest airline in Europe.

Did you take any screenshots of the app not working/the issues you were having?  Not sure if it would change anything or not, but might help persuade them.  Were you able to try a different device, or try the website rather than app?

As to whether any other airlines would be better?  I'm not so sure based on my own experiences.

Did you try to just use www.RyanAir.com rather than the App?

Because moneysaving experts on forums that go to comparison sites to find the absolute cheapest flights wouldn't use them any more as their headline price would be higher.  You have all reaped what you have sown.  Well done.

Works well for me. I don't need all these extras - I'm quite capable of travelling without luggage, not eating or drinking for 3 hours during the flight, checking in online, waiting to board and not having to have my hand held at any stage. I just want the cheapest flight from A to B.

If you aren't that kind of person then feel free to fly BA or whoever and pay their 'realistic prices' which apparently are more affordable than being caught out by Ryanair to have to pay for a check-in every once in a blue moon somehow.

That's how prices are so cheap. It's little things.

    1. Checking in on-line so no staff have to man check-in desks.
    2. Not using aircraft walkways as there's a charge with that.
    3. Using stairs connected to the aircraft so they don't have to request steps brought in which they charge.
    4. Not using main-hub airports where possible as they're expensive (eg. Heathrow, CDG)
    5. Using the one aircraft type so training is cheaper.
    6. No storage 'nets' behind seats so they're quicker to clean

If you fly with Ryanair and you check-in online, require no baggage, do not need priority boarding or choose a seat then Ryanair will almost certainly have made a loss on your ticket. Their business model is rinse people who haven't checked in on-line, require baggage, choosing a seat etc. That's where their revenue is. This isn't unknown public knowledge. It's publicly known

    Completely agree here.

I find the 2 lowest cost airlines in Europe to be the most reliable in the last 2 years. I know there are many who may disagree but on the routes I use they're perfect for what is needed if you can get away with little luggage, especially as the routes I use would require going through an EU hub.

It's well worth the savings overall by running a risk of being caught once.

Was told many lo cost airlines are 'digital' only in foreign and uk airports. Digital being the locost airline has no ground staff employed at that airport. they use contract services which recharge the airline.

Their app is very robust, their www site is also very robust. So much better than iag  Have you researched other forums/fart rooms There may be others in the same situation.

Sorry to hear your travel problems, we use locost including british airways new gatwick subsidiary and find it beneficial to start the online check in as soon as check in opens. often 23 hours before departure.
