Setting up a Bank App

I need to set up a app with my Bank the Bank Of Ireland and i need a registered telephone number to do it 

My question is do my do my smartphone have to be registered with my Bank or with somebody else ?

I think it needs to be a number registered with the bank so that they can send you access codes during set up and after.

What does this mean? The mobile number has to be registered, but the app can be installed, say, on a tablet without any number.

So my mobile number has to be registered with my Bank before. the app can be installed

You need to be registered for online banking and when you install the app they send a text code for you to activate the app.

Pretty standard.

And on another note what happens if my phone that my bank app is on is stolen or lost . How do i log into my bank account then ?

Sorry if this sounds a dumb question but i am a total rookie on the subject that is why i am asking for your advice on the subject
