I'm 5 foot 8
The bike does not need to be in the car while sleeping
I don't want a van, I need 4 seats.
The antera is on 100k, no warranty as it's just some bloke selling it, FSH. It looks quite nice...
I'm now ruling range rovers and disco's out, £695 to tax them. No thanks.0 -
I think you are right to rule out RRs and Discos, as neither have the best reputation for reliability, and I suspect will be pricey to maintain.
100k on the Antara, whilst probably average mileage, is possibly a bit higher than desirable, as it, too, is a car with seemingly a less-than-ideal reliability rate. But, it all depends on other factors - how solid a service record, whether the clutch has been replaced, how well looked after it's been (has it been a towing workhorse, for example?).
2nd hand car prices are still crazy, as you'll know. I'm just pointing out the Antara as an often overlooked option, one that will most likely tick the boxes, but could be gotable for a 'more reasonable' price.
Private sale = cheaper, but more risky. But, it still 'must be as described', so ask lots of Qs in a recordable ways if considering it.0 -
I wonder what this will go for? Most of the costly expected work has seemingly been done, but obviously a lot of due diligence required as it's a private sale - looks like the 'family car' as claimed, tho'!I'd like to see under that seat and steering wheel covers. And I'd want some evidence of oil changes.
"Milage is 88700 and no service record but very good car only getting rid as it is too big for me"

Yeah forget the Discos, I've had three and all have been money pits and the same can be said of a lot of other "premium" cars in your budget.
It's already been mentioned but the Octavia estate is a good call.
They sold lots of them, so you shouldn't have too much trouble finding a good one.
(they also sold the Scout, which is 4x4)
If you want 4x4 you could also think about something like a Toyota Rav4 or a Suzuki Vitara, both in long wheel base, but they might be a bit short to sleep in and tax can be a lot higher.
I've done something similar when competing in motorcycle trials, sleeping in the back of cars and vans.
It's really not pleasant as the car fills with condensation and you wake up soaked.
You could for around £800 put a simple roof tent on a car.
Roof Tent, 4 berth, Suitable for almost all vehicles. | eBay
You can then carry everything else you need in the back of the car which would otherwise be filled with yourself.
Knowing what I used to do and how bad it is, that would be the way I'd go these days.
That would open up some more cars, perhaps a Skoda Yeti.

Had a top quality Hanibal roof tent on a defender.
It was great fun and looked epic
It was heavy and made the defender handle like a pig (Hard to imagine I know).
It damaged already challenging fuel economy
It was taken off in Winter and was extremely heavy to get on and off , not helped by the height.
