Help with monthly rent after partner diesHi.

I'm worried about my Daughter after her partner passed away.
They were both single but lived together. He suffered a heart attack and passed away in Hospital a month ago. The funeral was yesterday 24th May.
Their rent is almost £700 per month and both pooled together to pay each month. She is now left on her own and not quite ready to return to work.
Is there any benefit with help towards this monthly rent, they both struggled despite working full time. Myself and wife have always helped them out financially, we are both pensioners and only have enough to keep ourselves.
Kind regards Jeff.

Is she off work but still being paid? She needs to put her circumstances through one of the benefits calculators - entitledto or turn2us.
I’m slightly confused by your reference to calling them partners, but then saying they were both single? Did he have any insurance policies at all?All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Any help available will be through Universal Credit.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.1 -
I'm assuming it means they weren't married.elsien said:Is she off work but still being paid? She needs to put her circumstances through one of the benefits calculators - entitledto or turn2us.

No, they weren't married. As for insurance, I don't think so.0

But whether they were partners matters for UC turning off work requirements for 6 months after the bereavement. The requirements must be turned off if they were partners, they can only be turned off at the work coach's discretion if they were just close friends (and unlikely to be if they were roommate acquaintances).0
