ROYAL MAIL SPECIAL DELIVERY COMPENSATION

I contacted eBay several times and was told that because the buyer open a ‘not received item case’ that I would have to refund. I have tried to appeal that decision, but was told there was nothing they could do and Royal Mail was at fault. As I had sent it special delivery, they should compensate. I have found also that eBay always sides with the buyer, there is no seller protection, despite them making millions each day from buyers.
It is so frustrating, that I have paid for a service and cannot claim and that Royal Mail are condoning the clear theft.

eBay would have likely automatically closed the INR in your favour with the tracking but buyers are advised by the eBay help pages to open a not as described returns request in these situations leading to the same result (buyer refunded).

How much were the items OP?

Thank you for your response. The item was jewellery and worth just over £200. To make matters worse, I only sold it to raise money to pay for my poorly dogs’ monthly vets bills.

Is it not possible that the packaging was ripped open on a conveyor or passing through a sorting machine?  I'm not sure that torn packaging automatically means theft.

Thank you, but my item was wrapped in 2 special delivery bags, one inside the other, bubble wrap and an organza bag. Only the outer bag was delivered together with the bubble wrap (with no sellotape on it) and an open organza bag, so it has clearly been tampered with.
