What happens to newts if i move home.
My other half has become mentally ill and paranoid about new neighbours who have moved in and she begged me to move house and sell up.
I want to do this for the sake of her mental state but I do worry about my garden and pond full of newts, a new owner could fill it in and cut down my trees.
It is a bad situation and a huge rush but i would rather see her healthy.

There is no guarantee that your ;partner would be healthy with the move. It's likely that the same problem will occour in the next house. This is something that needs to be discussed with her doctor or the person dealing with her care.Your care should be directed to medical practitioners as to why she is paranoid and what you could do to help. Otherwise you are going to spend a fortune constantly moving to placate something that possibily isn't real. You have no control over what someone does with the property once you sell. You could try to relocate as many newts as possible in nearby water. Trees not a hope.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Are the newts protected? Some are.
The trees will not be your after you move out. They will belong to the new owner who may or may not dispose of them.0 -
What species do you have? Great crested are protected and it would be a criminal offence to fill in a breading pond.
I think however you wife should look at getting professional help first, moving is unlikely to provide a long term solution. A friend of mine did this and 3 moves later his wife is no better.0 -
Do not move, it will not solve the mental health issues, get her treated for her mental health issues.Frank99 said:My other half has become mentally ill and paranoid about new neighbours who have moved in and she begged me to move house and sell up.
It depends if they are protected, if you are in a ANOB, conservation zone etc.Frank99 said:I want to do this for the sake of her mental state but I do worry about my garden and pond full of newts, a new owner could fill it in and cut down my trees.
Moving will not make her healthy, moving is kicking the can down the road. I know it is tempting to try and reduce the immediate difficulties when someone you care about is having mental health issues, but sometimes the best option is to tackle the problem head on. Go with her and speak to her GP, use whatever means necessary to get her help, to get her treated. Most people find moving stressful at the best of times, as a sticking plaster for mental health issues it has disaster written all over it.Frank99 said:It is a bad situation and a huge rush but i would rather see her healthy.0
