Hard Search on Credit Report

Hi

I received a warning that a hard search had been conducted on my credit report. I won't mention the name of the credit referencing agency. As I have not taken out any new credit or loan, and have not done so for many years, I became very concerned. My thought is that possibly somebody has stolen my identity. The name of the organisation conducting the hard search is as follows: Natwest - Internet - SIs & Accnt Opng.  Has anybody heard of this, or had a similar experience? My bank is currently looking into this as it may be the case that somebody is trying to take out credit or a loan using my personal identify. I'd be grateful for any views, comments or advice. Thank you so much!

Contact NatWest in writing. You could ask them over DM on social media, or via a written complaint. They'll investigate, and if they agree it should be removed. I imagine it was a soft search or some kind of identity check, logged incorrectly, but as you say it could be a fraudulent application.
