Awning problem

Hi. We have a problem with our awning. Only used it a few times after moving house a year ago. It is remote control. Used it recently but now won't retract. I have tried putting in a new battery. There is still connection as it pings when pressed but will not retract. What can I do? Who is likely to be able to fix it? Electrician? It was originally installed by Hillarys some years ago but they won't have anything to do with it. So stuck with an awning that is out! Thanks.

When you say "awning", is there any chance you could be a bit more descriptive? Or even post a picture? The reason I ask (and I will say I'm no expert on such things!) is that all the ones I've seen round and about have kind of a roller attached to the wall which holds the material, and kind of folding arm thingies that straighten out when you extend it.Thinking purely from a mechanical viewpoint, I would have thought it's quite possible that the arms have got jammed. Either due to getting bent slightly, or else due to rust or muck jamming them. Are you able to get on a step-ladder and have a good look, just make sure there's nothing obviously amiss, or something that just needs a bit of cleaning and lubrication?Sorry if that sounds a bit vague, but that would be my first port of call if it were me - look for the simple things first, things you could possibly fix yourself for pennies, before you call someone in.Actually, thinking about it - can you look on the Hillary's website and see if you can find the instruction manual (if you don't already have it). Or even just Google for it. Odds on you could well find a troubleshooting guide which may point you in the right direction.0

Is there a manual way of operating it ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

I've got one of these 'awnings'......it came with a manual handle.
Suggest you look on line for a local blind supplier. They will come out and fix it for you but will cost £££.0 -
Could it be a fuse has gone caused by the motor trying to overcome a slight seized mechanism? Electrician would be the best choice to fault find. How is it wired into the mains? Is there a fused outlet for it or a separate breaker in the fuse box?0
