Best card for large balance transfer

I am looking for a 0% balance transfer card so i can transfer around £7k from a card, bit whenever I look into different cards they seem to have assumed credit limits of £1,200. I have used the eligibility checker here and this gives me a card I am eligible for but again it has an 'assumed' creidt limit of £1,200. Am i missing something or do I need to speak to the card providers regarding a transfer of a higher amount?

You're missing the fact that the £1200 is purely a regulatory representative figure.

Lenders will decide your limit upon application.

The £1200 is a red herring. All providers have show a representative example and £1200 just what they use for this. The actual credit limit offered will not be indicated until after an application has been processed.

Its one of those things, you can't really know in advance of making the application. Credit limit given, is derived by a formula the bank decides on, based on credit risk, income, etc and is slightly different for each bank and not really divulged - tho I believe a few credit card providers can/do provide a likely credit limit before application.

Provided your credit history is good and you have no very important credit applications imminent (e.g. mortgage) I would recommend applying for whatever BT has the best terms. If that card has a high enough limit great, use all the available transfer then apply for the next best card, and so on if needed. If the provider has one use their eligibility checker before applying proper to avoid declined applications where possible.

Natwest give a 30 month balance transfer and also say they will do a soft search and give you your likely credit limit so you can decide if you want to do a full app
