Premium Bond/National Savings Certificate Help

I am looking for some advice regarding premium bonds. My Aunt has found a premium bond/national savings certificate that her gran bought for her in 1988.
She asked me if I was able to help her cash it in, I tried to do it online but got the message that the Holder Number & Certificate Number could not be found and I had to write to them. We wrote them a letter providing copies of the savings certificate and holders number.
NS&I sent a letter yesterday stating:
"Using the information you have supplied I was unable to trace any Premium Bond in your name"
The value of your account at the close of business on 4 May 2023 is shown below:
Maturity Date: 15 January 1993
Total Amount: £215.82
Is there any expiry date on these as my aunt seemed to think she should have a lot more than £215. Also why does it say they cant find anything in the name but give a maturity date and amount.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Was it a premium bond certificate, or some kind of NS&I fixed rate bond equivalent type certificate? The latter would 'expire' (mature), but the former would not. Is the date on the certificate 15 January 1988, if so this would be 5 years before the maturity date. So it could've perhaps been a 5 year Fixed Rate Savings Bond.
I ask only because you've stated it is a 'premium bond/national savings certificate' rather than just 'premium bond certificate'
"Also why does it say they cant find anything in the name but give a maturity date and amount."
They have said they cannot find any premium bond, so I wonder if they are reporting a different product is held instead, such as a fixed rate bond.
I may be wrong through, so hopefully someone with a deeper understanding of NS&Is historical product offering joins this thread. If you want me to definitely see your reply, please tag me @forumuser7 Thank you.

The letter is saying that they can't trace any Premium Bonds but they have found a Savings Certificate which matured in January 1993, and they have told you its value.2
