LEDs often flicker if they are in a dimmer, either due to wrong dimmer, wrong LED type, or both.
Flickering on a simple switch is less common, but it may be because the switch is faulty and/or the contacts are dirty. When you add a halogen lamp, you are increasing the current draw, which can be enough to 'overcome' the incorrect/dirty switch contacts.0 -

There must be a derivation somewhere in the way. Fpr some reason the lights in the boxroom are fed by the lights in the loft conversion (instead of from the light at the same floor), that in turn is a jungle of cables to feed the toilet and the lights with a 2 way switch+dimmer.0
