Replacement of Like for Like TV

Hello folks,
I currently have a 3 year old LG OLED TV in for repair with Currys. Should they not be able to make the repair then they should replace this with a "like for like" TV. As this model is not currently available anymore I'm wondering two things...
1. Can I insist on the replacement have at a minimum the same spec? Eg should include the Dolby Atmos capability etc.
2. I have read through posts where people have been given store credit to the value of the purchased goods. I bought this TV in October 2020 and since then we have seen massive inflation. Would I be within my rights to push for more than my initial purchase price due to inflation?

Hello OP
Is this under a warranty with LG, an extended warranty with Currys or are you referring to consumer rights? In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -

Typically you get 2 years worth of models in circulation at the same time and with the LG OLEDs there isnt much difference between the models unless you have the roll up screen or such so if you had the CX or GX then the most logical replacement would be a C1 as the following years model.
1) Under your statutory rights you'd be entitled to the same item, if thats not available they cannot force you to take another but it may be in your interests to do so. Under a warranty it will come down to the terms of the policy
2) Under statutory rights you would get a refund minus the use you've had for the last 3 years which means it'd be about 50% of what you paid for it. Under a warranty it will come down to the terms of the policy
Further on 2... TVs are as cheap as they ever have been however the TV pricing has an annual cycle because LG announces their new TVs in Jan at CES every year and launches them in Mar/Apr. This is when the brand new TVs are at their highest price and the month before is when the now prior year's TV that still the top one available will be the cheapest "latest model"
You can still pick up the 2022 and 2021 models for a good price, the later will be well under half price from their original launch and will be much cheaper than your 3 year old TV was unless you bought the 2018 model back then0 -
You will generally find that retailers have the option of repair, replace or refund at their discretion. It is certainly not reasonable to expect a replacement of higher value or higher spec that the item being replaced. If the item is no longer available I would a refund.

Regardless of how you're claiming you can't push for more based on inflation though. Have TV's even increased in value? Whenever a new LG set appears it seems to be a similar price to the last set.0
