Xylophone, textphone requires a…textphone. Relay is another UK only service. I think there may be (British sign language). It’s difficult to overstate how appealing the just ring this number approach for those that can’t use them!1

Appealing not! Appalling1

Given the wonders of technology (says one who has no smart phone
), have you ever investigated whether there is any device that might ameliorate the difficulty?

Yes…if you live in the UK you can something called a ‘textphone’ - it’s a special device! Think of something that doesn’t have the design qualities of Amstrad’s early efforts and you’ll get the idea!1
-
You don't say where you are living now but I take it that such a device is unobtainable/doesn't function there?
I can see it's a frustrating situation.
Incidentally, are you in a country where the SP in payment will be uprated (indexed)?

xylophone, very frustrating. And when (sometime in December?) I get a response re my CF83 application, I'll then have the how-to-pay issue. Seems phone call(s) are necessary to confirm the years being paid and/or the code to pay...Or can you correspond through your HMRC online service account to do this? I have access to that. Maybe I should order a UK cheque book, just in case...Re uprate, am living in EEA so assuming yes.0

I think that if it had been that simple, the HMRC/FPC/DWP lines wouldn't have been jammed for the last several weeks......
