Yep, exactly as Rob said.
Just a word of caution. It's best not to keep opening and switching accounts at the same bank. You might make the Halifax elves angry. Doing it once or twice will be fine though. Before you switch your First Direct account to elsewhere be sure to take a look at their Regular Saver account, which requires you to have their current account. It pays 7% interest for 12 months, max deposit £300 per month. It may or may not suit you but it's worth mentioning.1 -

But what you might do is to open a second account with FD, and then after some time has elapsed switch that one.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!
