 It's how I know I'm old honey
as I don't miss my mobile phone at all but most people I talk to can't even comprehend doing without theirs.

It's your ticket to mine and the barroness's second wedding, which as you know we are only doing to get lots of expensive presents, and the dress code is as described on our previous interactive thread. By the way, where are the pictures???:rotfl: 0 -
You seen how much it is to call from a phone box these days? Its only for the rich minimum 40p, gone are the days of button A and B and 'tapping' the number to get it for free:D Took out a mobile when OH was pregnant 13 years ago and I was working away, only get contract back then. moved onto PAYG now and VOIP in the house, phone bills down from £1600 pa in 2006 to just over £220 this year:money:[strike]Debt @ LBM 04/07 £14,804[/strike]01/08 [strike]£10,472[/strike]now debt free:j
Target: Stay debt free0 -
See I like my contract because I don't have to worry about how much it is going to cost me each month. I get enough texts and minutes to know I'm only going to be paying my line rental each month. That for me is worth the money.

I know £36 seems a lot, but as my sisters text me a lot, I doubt I would spend any less than that on PAYG. It's less than a tenner a week and that does include the insurance (which as I've mentioned, is brilliant). Having a mobile means I hardly use my landline so my total telephone and internet costs are less than £50. I know that I could probably get them cheaper but I am under the BBA guideline for 1 adult and 1 child so I reckon I'm doing ok.All comments made and advice given are my own opinions and do not represent the views or advice of any debt advice organisation.
Current balance: approx £17500 including Tax Credit Overpayment
Estimated DFD: never - deficit budget. Cheers HMRC!
Another year over and we're still together. It's not always easy, but I'm here forever0 -

Yep. Helps me to budget. When I used to be on PAYG I would have some weeks when I couldn't talk to anyone because I'd had a heavy week previously. All comments made and advice given are my own opinions and do not represent the views or advice of any debt advice organisation.

Heck, I used to soend for ever in a phone box calling the girlfriend of the moment using 2p coins in case she wasn't in, then putting 10p pieces the size of big ben in the slot once I knew she was there. I always used a phone in a very quiet area so there was very little chance of others wanting to use the phone. If I was really lucky, the girl might even call me back and save me some cash - those were the days....0 -
Hi,
I have reduced my phone useage from £20+ per month to about £10 per month. To do this, I text rather than talk, and I have discovered that most of the people I know, are on the same network as me.
Also, I top my phone up at Boots, using the advantage card = points for xmas! :j.
Recently, there have been 2 shopping events in town. Spend £50 (topping up phone), get £12.00 worth of points!!!.
Also, I check the advantage card machine for the 'extra 200 points when you spend £20 etc. I still put £20 per month to one side, so that I am able to do these offers.Debts at the start of my journey - about £23,000 lightbulb moment 01.03.2007 (1st payment to CCCS)..Debt Free Date 25.06.2013 Deposit savings £17,000/£30,0000 -
I agree that some people seem to think it's necessary to have the latest model etc, but I don't agree that having a contract is always a bad thing - I've recently got rid of my landline & seperate internet provider and got a mobile contract which includes as many minutes calls as I'll ever use, plus a phone which can be used as a modem with unlimited internet access (you could say internet isn't a necessity but I make extra money from surveys and ebay so it's very very useful for me!). Used to spend at least £100 a month between landline, mobile and internet, and I now pay £42 for the whole lot.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

My mobile costs me £25 and believe me it would be much more expensive on PAYG. I don't use a landline so this is my only phone cost.
The contract is up for renewal in Feb and I will shop around for a cheaper tarriff.Current debt - £16,300
Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0 -
the mobile tarrifs are great for you as a user if you have no land line etc, but my wife and I will not call anyone who only has a mobile as the cost to us is very high.0
