Annual travel insurance reducing cover for remaining holidays

Options
I took out a annual travel policy with Avanti . Due to health complications I had to cancel one of my holidays has was advised not to fly. I put a claim In for the holiday affected and they have now advised me that I now won't be covered for anything similar to this health condition for the remaining holidays.
My health condition has now cleared up.
This now means this policy is not suitable for me. How can I get fully covered for my remaining holidays.  What is my options.

You obviously need new insurance where you declare the medical conditions and will probably pay more for the pleasure

So if the condition has cleared up it's no longer a problem so why would you need to change your insurance?  If you had a different health problem then you would be covered, I believe.

I had a infection.  And worried it could reacurr.  Probably won't.  But would hate to be abroad and not covered by insurance if it did. I spent 4 days in hospital.  Its annoying that you take out annual insurance and then end up not being fully covered.

But if you're concerned about reinfection, and the insurance company apparently is too, is that supported by objective medical data that it's more likely to happen again after the first time, in which case it is a material change to the insured risk?  Presumably if that is the case then you'll potentially encounter issues when making medical declarations to other prospective insurers?

This happened to me with a Staysure annual policy. I had to notify them that I was on a waiting list for a procedure related to an existing condition that they knew about. They, or to be fair their underwriters, removed all cover for anything remotely related, telling me it could be reinstated after the procedure.

This made the policy totally useless to me, I cancelled it and they gave me a small proportion of the premium back. Any refund was at their discretion as I discovered when I read the small print properly.

I've got two holidays booked. I've got single trip cover for my existing conditions with Goodtogo for the first one, and I have got waiting list cover at extra cost in case I have to cancel because I am called for the procedure. I'm hoping for the same for the second holiday.

It looks as if single trip cover will be best for me in future at my age.  There is too much chance of a change in circumstances to make annual cover viable.
