Why is everyone giving advice to the OP on how to do something for her LL.
LLs are responsible for these things and by the sound of it there is serious structural proofing needed0 -
Aj_newbie said:chrisw the bait station worked wonders for the crawling ants. Within a day or two, they were all gone. Almost.
Flying ants somehow didn't venture near the bait station.
I posted earlier if you have identified the slyjhg ants. If they are carpenter ants that might light a fire under your LL as they could be destroying the wood structure.0 -

next year when the new rules start to apply Pest control will be a good trade to have because LL will pay whatever it takes to get these problems sorted asap or risk £25000 fines
You come across as a very angry person, hope you are not like this in real life

You come across as a very angry person, hope you are not like this in real lifeAnd their obsession with this £25,000 is strange as a quick google search says it is a fine up to £25,000. So not every landlord will be fined that. And as with all fines realistically how many will even come close to that? I think Yellowsub thinks they will get a £25,000 handout when they won’t. They will probably be evicted first and have to pay their landlord money with their attitude.3 -

Nothing is foolproof to a talented fool.1 -
It is polite to help someone who has serious pest problems and they are not getting the help that they are paying for.
The LL needs to pay for pest proofing until then the problem will not go away.
This is the polite thing to do to help someone0 -
OP you have my sympathy, I get ants in my rented flat every year. I have an insect phobia so it's a nightmare, I literally dread the summer because of it. Been a couple of years since flying ants though so I guess they are due a return! What has worked a little for me is Rentokil Insect Spray. As soon as it starts to get warm I spray round the edges of rooms and it seems to keep them mostly at bay. A few always seem to find a way but it's not the armies I got previously.

yes you can sit there and be adamant and kick your lets that it is indeed the LL who should take care of it, but in the absence of them doing it …. you either accept that ants are crawling into your food and your kid is v uncomfortable at home, or you try to fix it yourself, and potentially claim back the costs and expenses from the LL.Everyone’s choice, but if were the OP, i would exactly do what the OP is doing:
pressure the LL to take action and in the meantime take action yourself2
