I've had mine for nearly 3 years now, one multi split system and one single system, given what i know now i would probably have it done differently (in my next house etc).
I would also recommend daikin if you are looking but i cannot compare to other makes, but you do see them EVERYWHERE...

Downstairs I have an ElectriQ model which I bought and fitted myself for £579 + £30 for a diamond core drill bit.  It does have WiFi capability.  Works perfectly and if I turn it to max, will turn my entire open plan downstairs into a sweatbox within half an hour.  The quality difference between the two is night and day though, but it cost so little (comparatively), I don't mind.

@Waywardmike is the ElectriQ one of those units where all the gubbins is indoors and you put two ducts through the wall to feed air to the condenser? If it is, how's the noise level?
(Conventional split systems put the noisy parts outdoors.)
Nope, it's just a normal split system.  I did see those other ones available though, but the thought of coring two 8" holes in the wall scared me. With this I just needed a single 70mm hole.

The one I bought comes pre filled, but not with F-gas so can be bought and fitted DIY.  There's a sequence you have to follow with the valves to remove air from the lines and check for leaks (in the absence of a vacuum pump, which could be used if you have one).  It was actually really straight forward and only took a couple of hours.

apparently it's more eco friendly  this is what's claimed anyway:  Using latest refrigeration gas with zero ozone depletion potential (ODP) and lowest possible global warming potential (GWP)

It's difficult to compare the performance between my two systems as the areas they service are very different, but it warms up the room really fast and cools it down quickly, not sure if F-Gas AC would do it better.

4 Kwp System, South Facing, 35 Degree Pitch, 16 x 250W Solarworld Panels, SMA Sunnyboy 3600 Inverter, Installed 02/09/14 in Sunny South Bedford - £5600
Growatt AC Coupled SPA3000tl and 6.5kWh battery Installed Apr 2022

Thanks for the info, very interesting! I might see if Mrs QrizB wants one for her garden office.

It's R290, which is propane - similar to the stuff you run your BBQ on :)  which might be a useful thing to know if it ever develops a leak and needs regassing!
(I had a leaky car aircon once that wasn't worth the cost of fixing properly. I gassed it with propane for 2 or 3 years, topping up once a month from a Calor bottle.)

This is great info to know, I assumed I'd still have to call someone in if/when it ever needed regassing.

Sadly I'm an overpriced ceramic egg BBQ'er so don't have any to hand, but propane is cheap, so I'd undoubtedly give it a go myself first.  :#
