Problem with Nationwide Building Society site

I have just tried to set up a 1 year savings account (as suggested on this site) with the above. I went through all the stages including adding my personal info, creating passwords and accepting terms and conditions and then, right at the very last moment, I was told that a technical error had occurred and I should try again in a few minutes. I was thrown out with nothing saved as I was a new customer. Why should I bother? Has anyone else had the same issue?

I haven't experienced this particular issue with Nationwide ever, but generally things that cause it are network connection issues, time-out, or potentially a short issue with Nationwide's own systems.
If you would like to still open the account, it is best to do as it says and try again in a few minutes. You could consider using a different browser or device (if you have access to these).
Without more context, it is hard to know which one year savings account you are referring to, but there are better rates available on lots of categories of accounts that nationwide offer (I don't know your circumstances though, so you would need to DYOR to ensure the options were a good fit for you) ~ https://moneyfactscompare.co.uk/savings-accounts/
