I don't think there's any real warning bells going off here, ftsos.Have you checked your LA's Planning Portal to see if their plans are on it? If not, I think it's reasonable to request a copy from your neighbour, or perhaps the appointed PWA surveyor can provide a copy? This whole estate is managed? In which case, I'd have through that the plans would need running past them too for approval? In general, I wouldn't worry, and I wouldn't allow myself to become too stressed by this - it all sounds pretty normal. I would, tho', like to see the plans to check there's nothing contentious in them.2

However, I did do the right thing by coming here and asking these questions. It's given some peace.
Just as a side note, I have used communities like this on and off for almost 20 years (maybe) now. I am always blown away by people's kindness and sharing their knowledge and helping without asking for anything in return. Although I have seen some places where people attack each other over innocent questions (which stops a lot of people from helping and makes them stay away), I hope the positive sides of these communities stay.
Thank you all for your help and guidance. It is appreciated even if I didn't thank you directly.2 -
'Supposed freehold'? Surely you know which? There's no intermediate category between leasehold and freehold that I am aware of..No free lunch, and no free laptop0
