Easyjet baggage charges

The "new" Easyjet baggage charges are just bonkers. Unsure if other airlines are similar.
Aberdeen to London return flights and add on a large cabin bag and it adds £80 on the total cost!!!
So we sent a box, via DHL, 15kg, with a lot of our spare clothes that we would need for our trip within the UK. Did an overnight delivery and dropped the box off on the Monday. We flew on the Tuesday. Got into our accommodation at 6pm on the Tuesday. Box was waiting there for us. Total cost one way £7.56 with £20 insurance.
We could have added on extra insurance, signed delivery etc for about £2 more.
Sent it back the exact same way. Got a pick up done the day before we left. Cost was £8.78 for a pick up. Box arrived three hours after we got home.
Really tempted to try the similar when we go to France in August.
Bonkers.

I find all airlines baggage charges are bonkers that's why I never check a bag.
Posting certainly an option in the UK but not sure I would do it for France with customs to deal with0 -
How much were the flights Aberdeen to London and back?0

Great when it works out, but I'd suggest that many journeys don't involve travelling to somewhere where a package can reliably be left awaiting arrival and/or returning home and being around to accept a delivery! Coupled with the hassle factor of being present for courier collection at each end too, that would tip the balance for many, but it's undoubtedly a very MSE approach in terms of money saving (and perpetuates the stereotype of Aberdonians not being renowned for extravaganceKenMavor said:Got into our accommodation at 6pm on the Tuesday. I often wonder what other people take on holiday with them that makes these baggage charges worthwhile (mind you I often wonder why other people do a lot of things that they do) as generally the contents of my bag are such that if I had to pay a checked bag fee each way I'd be cheaper to simply buy all the items at my destination and bin them before I come back.
Mind you the last time I moved house I also worked out that the cost to hire movers was more than the value of the items being moved and binned that off too - so maybe I'm just a cheapskate!0 -
Would you be upset if you were told the box flew on the same aircraft?KenMavor said:The "new" Easyjet baggage charges are just bonkers. Unsure if other airlines are similar.
