Water marks on chromed plastic trims

Hi, got a bit of a problem with a car I've just bought in that there are dried water marks on the trims at the bottom of the windows. Perhaps somebody washed the car and didn't dry it. My guess is that the trims are some sort of chromed plastic although there are marks on the roof bars too. I've tried all sorts of non-abrasive cleaner but it's having little effect in shifting them - any ideas please before 'er indoors gets the Brillo pads out?

Try this, it worked on some water marks for me, even if it doesn't you'll get lovely clean glass !

I've had a look on YouTube, and somebody said it needs a mild, non-abrasive acid to wipe on, leave for a minute then neutralise with water.

the trim is plastic coated, the watermarks are under the plastic... you cant shift them

This is very much like lacquer lifting on paint, not sure there is anything you can do easily.
