Are Amazon in trouble.

Are Amazon.de in trouble. I tried to purchase just over £40 worth of goods from them and my Halifax clarity card was decline twice. When i telephoned Halifax i was put through to Alan in the fraud department and he told me , Halifax had a blanket ban on using its cards with this company and he did not know when it would be lifted. I used my HSBC card without problem.

Amazon are one of the biggest and richest companies in the world, so they certainly aren't in trouble.

A lender can choose to put whatever restrictions they like in place, if they've been hit by a lot of fraud through Amazon.de they might temporarily decide to scrutinise transactions more carefully, I doubt if they would implement a blanket ban.

Buying anything from the EU has become more difficult due to Brexit. I used to buy cycling stuff and equipment it was difficult to get here from German sites, but some of them stopped dealing with the UK at all and some of them added extra costs.

They maybe seeing a lot of fraud to Amazon.de
But a blanket ban. Do not think so. If Amazon got wind of that, Halifax could end up in hot water. As banks are only allowed a certain % of declined transactions, that turn out to be genuine. Exceed that & FCA are not a happy bunny.

And businesses are only allowed a certain % of fraudulent transactions before MasterCard and VISA withdraw payment services. I imagine they are speaking to each other.

Unrelated but concerning Amazon overseas transactions, Significant Others sister lives in Switzerland and Amazon won’t deliver there. She has to get stuff delivered here, we re-wrap and send it on.

New Zealand post has a warehouse somewhere near Heathrow. People from NZ can order on Amazon, get it delivered there, and their Post office will forward it.
