Finding shareholder ref number

I have share certificates for Scottish American Investment Company left by my mum but they are very old and don’t have a shareholder reference number on them - just the share certificate numbers. I don’t have any statements from them but can see for bank statements a dividend was recently paid but no ID numbers. How would I get the share holder reference number. I tried phoningBaillie Gifford who now manage the fund but they couldn’t help. Any ideas?

You need to contact the share registrar and ask what you need to do to have them transferred or sold. According to Scottish American's website it's Computershare.

There are also some forms on its website:
