debit card scam

I am very emberassed, I think I may have fallen for a scam. Yes , foolishly I gave a debit card details . The card only had £100 in the account which I immediatley withdrew. I then froze the card using the banks app. Is there anything else I need to do apart from going into the building society and cancelling this account. Luckily its an account in only my name so don't need to admit this to the other half yet.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

Why do you think it might be a scam?
We all give debit card details whenever we use our cards. Not foolish and nothing to be embarrassed about.
Are you saying you bought something which you would be embarrassed to tell your partner about and you now regret it?
Why do you think it involves consumer rights?

What sort of scam ? If you want more meaningful assistance you might need to give some more information.peter_the_piper said:I am very emberassed, I think I may have fallen for a scam. As I said , embarassing. I had a piece come through on facebook for a Sainsbury survey, which I filled in. ""Won a prize""only had to pay postage which I paid for. Bloody daft I know but had a blank moment. I immediately withdrew all the funds on that account and then froze the debit card. I'm going to my local nationwide to cancel the account the card was for and would like to know if there is anything else, regarding the money, that I need to do.

So the only "scam" is that you've paid something for some postage and now regret doing so?0

Freezing the card is the right thing to do, it does sound like a scam and not an official Sainsbury's survey. No need to go into branch just phone them and state you think you entered card details onto a scam website and can they cancel the card and issue a new one.peter_the_piper said:As I said , embarassing. Why you closing the account? Just need to advise them that the card has been compromised and they'll void the card and issue a new one.1

No. The scam is that the prize doesn't exist and in reality, it's scammers harvesting debit and credit card details from unsuspecting "winners".user1977 said:So the only "scam" is that you've paid something for some postage and now regret doing so?
This is very common on Facebook and other social media and it's been tried with the names of many big retailers.
After all, do you honestly think that any reputable company would ask for payment upfront to enable you to receive a prize?1 -
Can you not cancel card in app?Life in the slow lane0

Yes, I have received many of these but always to the same e-mail address. Selected for various items free but require a postage fee. Fridges, freezers, coffee machines, kettles, vacuum cleaners etc., from Argos to name just one cited retailer.
