Halifax temporary password

I registered Power Of Attorney last week and have received a text message saying online banking is now set up with a temporary password saying to use it with my username to activate the service. Can someone please clarify what exactly that means, do I have have to register from scratch with a new user name, if so how can online banking already be 'set up'?  My father already has online banking but when I try to log in using this password it says invalid details. Have given up phoning Halifax

You need your own user name so you can access the accounts in your capacity of attorney rather than using his log in - you can't have 2 passwords on one user name.  Similar to a joint account where each party has their own log in.

Probably best to try Halifax rather than asking here?

You could simply try this page - which has an option for getting your username:  https://www.halifax-online.co.uk/ib-access/cwa/forgotten-details/index.html?

But if a username hasn't even been set you'll need to contact them.
