Fraudulent Purchase On My Account

Options
Yesterday I was checking my online statement from A and L and noticed that £217.14 had been taken from my account. The transaction involved a company called Buy A Swatch. As I did not buy anything from this company I contacted A and L who blocked my card. The cheeky !!!!! on the phone told me that "IF" a fraud had occurred I "MAY" get the money refunded to which I replied that I would not be phoning them if a fraud had not been committed. I also contacted Buy a Swatch who managed to find the order and told me that they thought it was a bit funny as the email address was dodgy and the delivery address was to Loughborough, I live in Scotland and do not know anybody in Loughborough. I was so !!!!ed off with the woman from A and L's attitude that I have written to their chairman telling him. As yet I have had no reply. I went into my local branch of A and L and they were totally hopeless. So will just have to wait and see what happens.

  • My god that was a quick result, just checked my online account and the statement is showing the amount that it is supposed to be. Telephoned Alliance and Leicester who inform me that the money is being refunded overnight. RESULT!
  • At least yours is a happy outcome. I was beginning to think that there was something dodgy with A & L after reading the other guy's thread of money missing from his a/c.

I'd suggest changing banks as A & L are a hopeless lot. I know from experience.
  • Well to be honest, I have been with them for many years and have never had a problem with them, I have never really dealt with their customer service department until yesterday. Now that things have turned out alright I am of the opinion, better the devil you know. However, I will reserve judgement and be keeping an eye on things.
