You clearly hang about with quite a few dishonest people, then.mikeylimb said:
Hahah, this is sadly accurate. Although I only really want them to respond to one of my whims - for the bike to be collected.tightauldgit said:Hi
I bought something then changed my mind, but couldn't be bothered to do anything about it and then I just faffed around when they asked for it back but now I want them to take it back and they aren't immediately responding to my every whim. Advice?
I do have to say, the general (not everyone) hostility/annoyance towards this post has surprised me a little. I don't think it's completely unfounded, but I do think that a large number of people would have just held on to the bike without saying anything (most people who I spoke to about this said that's what they'd do).
You know, I am trying to do the right thing here, albeit a little late. We all procrastinate, but who knew my procrastination would get the internet people so riled up... I guess you're just a better person than me.
Even if if were true that a large number of people would keep quiet, you only have to browse a few pages of this forum to see that it's those people that are then caught out weeks or months later with a bill and come here looking for advice because they've used/sold/disposed of the item in question and can't afford to pay for it.
Dishonesty will pay for a few, but for many others it will just lead to a load more hassle and cost further down the line. At least you've got better judgement than most of your acquaintances and are trying to do something about it.5 -
I don't suppose this is Planet X, is it?
A few years ago I ordered a bike from their website and several days later I noticed that core components (drive chain, mainly) had been significantly upgraded on the same model (same price).
I contacted them, explained the position and asked if I could have the newer-spec bike instead. They were happy to make the swap (chapeau to them).
A couple of weeks later I had a delivery of the new bike, followed the next day by another delivery of the old-spec bike! I left the old bike in the box and waited a few days for them to contact me and ask for their bike back.
However, no contact was made so I contacted them instead and explained the situation. They apparently had no idea that they had sent me a 'free' bike, and we're pleased that I had told them.
They arranged collection and got the bike back a few days later. Pretty good overall service from them, all in all.
It's obviously not the same situation that you're in, but I thought I'd recount the story anyway just to point out that if it is Planet X, they're not all bad.0 -
Strangely enough this is the first appearance of your parents - and you didn't originally say that this was why you opened it.mikeylimb said:turnitround said:You didnt want the bike but ignored emails saying it was being built, then when it arrived even knowing you did not want to keep or pay for it you opened it nd took it out of the packaging.
Then you responded with a photographed of the bike in its box even though you only packed it the following day?
Do the decent thing and agree to pay in instalments, its a small company and they are already way out of pocket due to you letting them send it then accepting it knowing you did not want it. Why did you not simply refuse delivery.
... It was my partner who accepted delivery. As I said, I thought that my parents had bought it for me, hence why I opened it...
"About a month after cancelling, the order shows up. At this point I got quite excited and remove the packaging, but the next day I come to my senses... "

My bad, I remember thinking that I needed to mention that in the original postManxman_in_exile said:

No it's not, it's Mango. Sounds like you had a much better experience than me!The_Unready said:I don't suppose this is Planet X, is it?
