I don't suppose this is Planet X, is it?

A few years ago I ordered a bike from their website and several days later I noticed that core components (drive chain, mainly) had been significantly upgraded on the same model (same price).

I contacted them, explained the position and asked if I could have the newer-spec bike instead. They were happy to make the swap (chapeau to them).

A couple of weeks later I had a delivery of the new bike, followed the next day by another delivery of the old-spec bike! I left the old bike in the box and waited a few days for them to contact me and ask for their bike back.

However, no contact was made so I contacted them instead and explained the situation. They apparently had no idea that they had sent me a 'free' bike, and we're pleased that I had told them.

They arranged collection and got the bike back a few days later. Pretty good overall service from them, all in all.

It's obviously not the same situation that you're in, but I thought I'd recount the story anyway just to point out that if it is Planet X, they're not all bad.

You didnt want the bike but ignored emails saying it was being built, then when it arrived even knowing you did not want to keep or pay for it you opened it nd took it out of the packaging.
Then you responded with a photographed of the bike in its box even though you only packed it the following day?

Do the decent thing and agree to pay in instalments, its a small company and they are already way out of pocket due to you letting them send it then accepting it knowing you did not want it. Why did you not simply refuse delivery.

... It was my partner who accepted delivery. As I said, I thought that my parents had bought it for me, hence why I opened it...
Strangely enough this is the first appearance of your parents - and you didn't originally say that this was why you opened it.

"About a month after cancelling, the order shows up. At this point I got quite excited and remove the packaging, but the next day I come to my senses... "

My bad, I remember thinking that I needed to mention that in the original post

No it's not, it's Mango. Sounds like you had a much better experience than me!
