Not sure, but I'd assumed his buyer has just used a letter template with that phrase in.tightauldgit said:Just the pedant in me when reading that letter but is a cloned car 'faulty' or 'not fit for purpose' strictly speaking?
Not saying that's going to help the OP, just wondering what the correct terminology is?
'Not fit for purpose' would be what I'd have chosen, from those two options. Maybe 'not fit for sale' is a better descriptor.1 -
Healso says the car was stolen. So, original car stolen , vin changed and registration done in cloned number?0

None of those things is relevant to the purchase of second hand goods from a non-trader - but the buyer can't get a good legal title (as the car is still owned by whoever it was stolen from) - so the OP has fundamentally breached the contract by failing to give the buyer a good title to the goods and therefore needs to hand the money back.tightauldgit said:Just the pedant in me when reading that letter but is a cloned car 'faulty' or 'not fit for purpose' strictly speaking?

Given this friend has you details & this is a stolen car. Do you not think it is odd that as you were the seller, that the police have not paid you a visit?
Perhaps contact the police & check that this is a gen situation & they are not trying to scam you.Life in the slow lane3 -
Chances are the other car got the MOT in Nov, if it's cloned there's 2 cars getting MOTs etc.powerful_Rogue said:
Not long by the looks of it. It was listed for sale on Autotrader on the 31st July 2021 and the OP sold it on the 12th January 2022.macman said:How long did you own the car for?
Strange how it had an MOT on the 2nd February 2022 (by the new owner) and then again on the 17th November 2022.2 -
The extra MOT in November is odd, but both the original car plus the cloned car would have the same MOT record - both due February. If two cars were being taken for test then you'd expect to see two MOTs at around the February time and create a mileage anomaly.Forwandert said:

It really is buyer beware, so they buyer will need to have done due diligence and checked it.0
