Travel Insurance in 2023 for pre existing health conditions

I know this get’s asked many times but I’m struggling to get affordable travel insurance.  I have complicated health including cancer (not currently having treatment) and Myasthenia Gravis.  I have a one week cruise booked with my family for later this year and my cost for the trip is £1,050.   Quotes I have received from specialist insurance companies for pre existing conditions range from £3,500 to over £4,800 !  I have regular checkups and have medication to control symptoms.  I wouldn’t think of travelling if I didn’t feel well.  I understand I am a risk but it seems so unfair !

Where is the cruise? If its going near N. America or Caribbean then its always going to be expensive. 

If you've shopped around and those are the prices you are being quoted then there is little more you can do than decide if its worth paying, worth risking travelling without insurance or deciding not to travel. 

There are some insurers that may consider excluding cover for a pre-existing condition which effectively makes you uninsured for them but still insured for unrelated conditions so a bit of a half way house to being totally uninsured.

There are specific comparison sites for pre-existing conditions, which might be worth trying. Google came up with several. I used https://www.medicaltravelcompared.co.uk/travel-insurance/ which was quite good,but for less severe conditions.
If that price is for a group policy, it may be worth seeing if individual quotes work out cheaper. I have heard that group policies rate everyone at the price for the biggest risk. If that is correct, in a group of 4 of you with 3 low risk members, separate policies could cut the total by nearly 3/4.
