Minmet plc

Hi. I bought some shares in Minmet plc many years ago and I know they went through some very rocky times. Does anyone know what became of them and if my shares are worth anything today?

It was delisted from AIM in 2008. It's not clear on exactly what happened then - I found articles announcing two separate takeovers that don't seem to have gone anywhere. This article from 2014 suggests it has been effectively dead since the delisting.
It seems that at that time the only reason it hadn't been liquidated was that no-one cared enough to do the paperwork.

You mean Barclays Smart Investor? I'd take anything anyone there tells me with a pinch of salt and they aren't allowed to advise anyway but it's not what this Irish Times article* indicates, "Aventine, originally incorporated in 1988 as Feltrim Mining plc, and later Minmet plc, is principally involved in exploration, processing and sale of gold, metals, ores and minerals. The firm has been dormant since 2008 and is effectively insolvent but has not been put into liquidation, the court heard."

*The same article Malthusian linked to above.

This website indicates it used to exist but you'll notice all the data are, "N/A" so there's nothing current. I'd say your certificates are worthless. However, if you want to waste some of your time you could contact the registrar - its name should be on the certificate.

  • yeah that's the thing i was looking at, it made no sense to me at all that's why i thought i would ask on here, my certificate is in the bin, i'm not going to waste anymore time thinking about it..
    many thanks for your help
    much appreciated
