More than lower miler black boxes

Hi I took out a lower miler policy with more than in June 2022, I’ve just received an email telling me that they won’t be offering renewal because they are closing the business. My question is I had to pay £90 for the black box in my car and they state they don’t offer refunds for the devices unless you’re in the first 14 days of policy starting. But now I’m left with a device I paid extra for which is essentially useless, my policy cost more than !! Some of the other quotes I got last year with the cost of the black box added in. but I thought I could spread the cost of that box over a few policies over the next few years as I do low mileage anyway. Is it fair that I now cannot renew my policy or send the device back for refund ? If I had known at the beginning of the policy that they would not renew it this year I would not have taken the policy out.

I can understand your frustration.
However, planning to renew "over the next few years" with the same company was never a good idea. The standard advice (based on good evidence) is always to shop around.2 -
However, planning to renew "over the next few years" with the same company was never a good idea.I know how to shop around, I’m not gonna stay with them if they tried to increase my premiums by a silly amount. Which they wouldn’t because I have plenty of no claims. I’m also not gonna go paying for a new black box every time I want a new low mileage insurance policy though either am I ? Otherwise what’s the point of these black boxes if you have to buy a new one every time you’re up for renewal ?? I’m just annoyed that I’ve had to pay for it and have no way to use it going forward or to get refunded seems unfair0

It might seem unfair but unfortunately a risk you take. It might be worth complaining to them to point out you paid the cost expecting to stay and that they might want to refund but equally they might say no.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0
