IWOOT: Not dispatched in time for Christmas

I placed an order on I want one of those (IWOOT) on 7th December as they were guaranteeing delivery in time for Christmas if you order before 18th December (I need it this weekend so thought that would be enough time). After a week I and no dispatch notice so I emailed and was told it would be dispatched soon (items were in stock when I ordered and still in stock when I emailed).

It wasn't dispatched until 18th December after another email asking where it was. I wasn't too concerned as it said on their website that anyone who ordered before midday 18th would get their items in time for Christmas, I ordered 11 days before this and my item was dispatched on 18th so I was happy enough.

I expected the item to arrive today as couriers aren't as slow as royal mail this time of year. I checked the dispatch email to get the courier name and tracking number and I was horrified to see that my item was dispatched via royal mail standard parcels.

Standard parcels takes 5 days normally to arrive and I checked the RM website and items had to be dispatched by 14th December to guarantee Christmas delivery with standard parcels.

I've emailed again without a response and I've been on hold for an hour with their customer service. It closes at 8 so I don't expect to hear from anyone tonight.

I'm guessing that because I ordered my item early they thought it was OK to dispatch through standard parcels and not courier but forgot it was dispatched late. If I had left it to the last minute and ordered the day my item was dispatched I would be getting my item on time.

Any suggestions?

  • I've been on hold and hour and a half and they hung up on me saying sorry we are closed this is out of hours. I'm even more angry.

    Have no advice but in similar situation. Ordered a t shirt for my boyfriend off chargrilled.co.uk at the end of November. Website says orders are normally fulfilled in 5 working days, but sometimes can take up to 10 days. No worries I thought!!

    Rang them on monday (about 8 working days) to explain I was worried as it hadnt arrived. To get told it hadnt been printed yet as they wait for a few orders to save on printing costs. They doubt it would be here for Christmas. Sorry but it says this where on the sight??? My boyfriend is now a present down, and its something hes wanted for ages and I promised Id get it :(

    They said a refund shouldnt be a problem, but Im just so ANNOYED!!! grrr
