Hi guys
First Post, hope everyone is ok.
I have few default from 2014 and 2015, to my understanding, debts are only on your report for 6 years then it should get deleted.
Question is why the default changed from the original date to a later date and can I ask cra people to remove them?
Many thanks guys

It was probably sold on and a new default added.
Ask for the later default to be removed.1 -
Do I need to ask the cra or the lenders to remove the later default dates?0

Froggy8,
Can you confirm whether or not your debt was sold please.
If it was, the original entry, if still shown, should show the date of default, and a zero balance.
The entry by the debts new owner, should show the same date of default, and the outstanding balance.
If they do not, then you should complain to the creditor concerned, not the CRA, they only show the information given to them.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Yes my old debts got sold to lowell and hoist.
On all the old default, it still shows the original date and the later dates too. The outstanding balance is not zero and still showing original amount.0 -
I forgot to mention that I did pay bit of some debts on 2019, do you think that they can add another 6 years because I got in touch with them?0

Creditors have no say in the matter, section 87 of the consumer credit act governs defaults, and how and when they are applied and reported.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. You cannot change the date of default unless you believe it was unfair, and should have been defaulted sooner, in which case you would send a formal complaint to the creditor, and ask them to change it.
You cannot have a default removed, only the date can be changed if you feel it should have been defaulted sooner.
If you are successful and the date is changed to a time when the 6 year mark had already passed, then the whole entry would disappear.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
