Hey all
My OH hates my phone and says I need to replace it. It was new a year back and so it's quite up to date (motorola G4). The reason he hates it is I don't get messages sometimes, sometimes can't get a signal, and sometimes when I text him he gets the same text multiple times. personally I think these are all network issues (my EE to him on Tesco)
Any ideas? Other than replacing my OH??

Are there specific senders that you don't receive message from? The signal is more likely to be lack of coverage than anything to do with the phone.Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid1

Get a Tesco payg sim, put one of their bundles on it and see if it makes a difference.

It's a bit random - I've a friend (no idea what network) that doesn't get my texts sometimes and I'll suddenly get one from her that's from 2 weeks earlier. I might see about the Tesco payg.oldernonethewiser said:Are there specific senders that you don't receive message from? The signal is more likely to be lack of coverage than anything to do with the phone.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. 7 years old on an unsupported Android 6 or 7 (current version 13) isn't "quite up to date" at all.
However, that shouldn't prevent you from sending/receiving SMS.
Remove clean and re-insert SIM card as the first port of call, maybe losing connectivity due to SIM card.
Also, I'd do a full backup and factory reset to see if that helps and make sure the OS and all Apps are up to date.
Failing that, £30 for exact same phone, try another one and see if same issue.1 -
Not sure why you think it's 7 years old. Maybe due to me mistaking the model? It's a moto G50[Deleted User] said:

I had a Moto G4 (several years ago!) and had a similar problem. My home was in a very weak signal area, could get enough of a signal outside to make calls and send messages, but I wouldn't receive "missed" messages until I was about a mile away from home.Brie said:

Changed phone when it died to one that supported WiFi calling and never had the problem again.
As already suggested, I would try a different network.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. Hi. Have you thought about swapping your sims over to see what happens?Brie said:Hey all

It could be your ee signal has got weaker, or it could be that OH phone is better at holding on to a weak signal. If your phone works better with OH sim then maybe look for a deal with tesco/giffgaff etc, if not and OH phone works OK with your sim look at replacing your phone (or at least check all the settings) is either phone set to use wifi-calling?0 -
For some unexplicable reason, my moto G9 has stopped sending texts as SMS messages which go straight away, but uses something else that half the time doesn't bother to send the text at all.Sometimes I go back to my text and click on it and it pops up with " schedule sending for a fortnight next Tuesday" or "actually send this now like you think I should" or "send as SMS"I have no idea what has happened....I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
