I'm not on Economy 7 but am trying to shift load to night time usage by getting washing machine, dishwasher etc to run at night (difficult as they're older models without timers). You wont gain anything by doing that unless you go on a multi-rate tarrif like economy 7. However, you need about 40% or more of your use to be off peak.
Can you really shift that much energy over night?

It is, but you said you are not on Economy 7. Unless it was a typo and you meant now instead of notFCA_ACF said:I thought E7 was TOU based, i.e. cheaper off-peak (middle of the night) than peak time.

Sorry for confusion.
I have a Smart Meter (E470 Series 3 SMETS2 100) installed by Bulb in 2019. Which I believe is an E7 meter.
However, I'm not on a TOU tariff.

Hi, if you look at your actual Octopus bill you'll see you're not actually paying that unit rateFCA_ACF said:Sorry for confusion.

If you haven't had an Octopus bill yet, send them some meter readings that seems to generate a bill within a couple of days.1 -

Thanks all. Now looking at actual Octopus bill, I can see EPG is applied at end, so I'm not paying the full rate.

You could edit your 1st post content and title now you realise this was your mistake?

It is, but you pay a higher rate in the day than on a single tariff. E7 is for properties with a hight night load such as storage heating and only economical if around 50% of your electric use is overnightFCA_ACF said:I thought E7 was TOU based, i.e. cheaper off-peak (middle of the night) than peak time.Officially in a clique of idiots1 -
