Windows 11 Device Manager claims the following drivers are missing - I can't find these drivers and the update function on HP Support Assistant can't find them either. Is this a problem?
other devices
PCI Serial Port
PCI Simple Communications Controller
SM Bus Controller

What do you see on HP's website when you search for drivers via the machine's serial number? My feeling is that this is quite an old machine, is it even supported on Win11? Though drivers, if available, for Windows 10 should work on W110

Run Windows Update and see if they appear then.If not, then according to HP there are no Windows 11 drivers for that machine, which usually means Windows 11 should know what to do with everything already. Or its too old to support itThose are going to be chipset drivers, the Simple Communications is almost certainly Intel IME (or AMT, one or the other) and the Windows 10 drivers are her:

Ta. I’ve done everything suggested but the drivers I listed still don’t show up.
This small form tower (Energy Star) is definitely a few years old and was supplied to a large enterprise as the original version of Windows was downgraded presumably because they had some ancient software they needed to run across the business. (OOI I remember Sainsburys were still using XP Professional on their self checkout POS terminals a few years back!)
But it now has Windows 11 Pro on it and runs very fast. It’s quiet and doesn’t get hot. It was supplied entirely dust free. The only issue I can see is the 3 missing drivers….0 -
XP POS is different to consumer XP, but that's a different discussion. If drivers don't work from the HP website you shoud be able to get some from intel's website - those listed are almost always Intel chipset drivers of some sort.1

Thanks I’ll take a look at Intel’s site0

I've had a look at the Intel site and downloaded the Driver & Support Assistant but it reports the same as the HP Driver support.
No supported driver or software updates are available for your system.
This EliteDesk 800 G1 dates from 2018 but came with Windows 11 Pro.
Would it be possible to manually download the required drivers?device manager – missing driversother devices• PCI Serial Port• PCI Simple Communications Controller• SM Bus Controller

On the HP forum it is claimed it can't be upgraded to the version of TPM needed, so maybe a workaround was done, which HP driver support doesn't recognise?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. The G1 is a 4th gen processor.I just installed win 11 on an i5-4460 with a z97 chipset. As you say device manager is full of yellow exclamation marks.Just downloading the Win 10 chipset INF as suggested fixed all but one, and that was fixed with Intel smart Connect Driver.Did you actually download and install the suggested win 10 inf driver https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp82001-82500/sp82022.exe ?

thanks facade.
I've run the win 10 inf driver install and one of the missing drivers has been found for *SM Bus Controller*, which is excellent but the following are still missing their drivers:-
PCI Serial Port
PCI Simple Communications Controller
Any futher suggestions would be great.
For clarity, I didn't express this well before but this EliteDesk 800 G1 dates from 2018 I think came with Windows 8/8.1 downgraded to Windows 7 for the user's specific requirements. How it ended up with Windows 11 Pro I have no idea - presumably Windows 10 would have been less demanding and problematic?

Follow the link Neil_Jones gave, select windows 10 and 64 bit as your operating system, and download the 2 other chipset drivers "Intel management engine" and "intel AMT driver"They should fix it between them. I suspect AMT driver is all that is really neededIf you'd upgraded from Win 10 it would have picked up the existing drivers, but I suspect, being HP you'd have needed to load all the Win 10 drivers to get win 10 working anyway
