First bill was for 7 months from opening the account through winter period 21-22 to when Smart meter was fitted in June 2022.  The next 3 bills are quarterly, but Smart meter readings used at 6 months apart. (October and April).  Annual estimates of 27000 kWh-Gas and 6700 kWh-Elec are consistent with the readings but very high for the OP description of modest expectations.

Tracking daily / weekly / monthly consumption either through the Smart meter or through meter readings is essential to understand what is going on.  Consumption should be falling rapidly as summer arrives.

Did you get anyone out to fix the boiler?

Low pressure & releasing gas sounds odd. If you are releasing gas, then you are lowering pressure even more.

The annual estimates on the bills go from 15,700 in Oct to 27K in Jan and the last bill is 32K

Get the data from one of the apps and see if usage drops after the boiler was fixed.
  • I believe the smart meters may have been installed in July 2022, now that I think back (have a lot going on so mind a bit blurry - £40,000 fraud in my name, stolen vehicle, raising a baby, flare ups in my arthritis etc). This was done upon BG’s say so, as even then £2000 seemed a bit wild to us so they said this would be a better way to be billed.

After this, it’s been smart meter readings (not done by me) that we’ve been billed for.

I think you may be leaking gas, The last 2 bills for 21-22 show an annual of 13k -15K kwh, And now its doubled that in just 6 months.
If we are leaking gas, would be something we could smell? I can’t smell anything

Can you give us the meter readings  for these bills please - make sure you include the letters A C E S or our read / your read

Can you read your meters todays as well please.

Apparently from Oct-Jan our bill was £1800 and we paid that in April and now another bill just came through for £1100 and it says from Jan-April. How is it so much money. They installed a smart meter (in July 2022 I think).

This is really panicking me. What do I do? I’ve spoken to them and they’ve insisted their meters are correct and they can’t do anything.

EDIt -  can you find the bill that included the July 2022 (was this just the Electric) and check that all of the information for the new meter has been set up - serial number, opening reading of the new meter, closing reading of the old one
Did the bills I attach have the information you suggested I post? I couldn’t see any Alphabets anywhere

The landlord sent someone to fix the issue of having no heating. The pressure release is now intermittent

When boilers lose pressure it is usually water leaking out somewhere, not gas.  The problem is finding where!
Your bills look like they are high because your property is using a lot of energy.  How high is your heating set for how long, and how good is the EPC/insulation?

Do you have a timer and thermostat to control your heating? Do the radiators have TRVs, valves that can be set to different temperatures so rooms can be kept cooler when not in use?

People are saying the gas is high but for a gas-heated home that's a lot of electricity too.  Time for an energy audit?
