I need a little help I’ve been offered a new job that is term time only but is not salary paid how does that work with taxs credit and eventually when they swap everything over to uc I will be working 22 hours working 38 weeks of the year so won’t be getting paid for the half terms.

Are you sure? Its fairly normal practice for the pay to be averaged out over 12 months so that you get paid the same throughout the year."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0

Tax Credits are calculated on annual pay, so pay frequency should be immaterial.Alice Holt Forest situated some 4 miles south of Farnham forms the most northerly gateway to the South Downs National Park.0

They do that as standard in my job, unless you request otherwisesammyjammy said:Are you sure? Its fairly normal practice for the pay to be averaged out over 12 months so that you get paid the same throughout the year.0 -
Hi, congratulations on your new job. You have to report any change in circumstances - per this link -
https://www.gov.uk/changes-affect-tax-credits
- and the consequences of not doing so seem to be quite severe.
'You could be fined up to £300 if you do not report certain changes within 1 month, and up to £3,000 if you give wrong information.'
You have to report changes when you are in receipt of UC too so that would still apply.
They will work everything out.
Hope that's helpful. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. Assuming this is a job in a school/Local Authority, you will be paid 1/12th of your annual salary each month.lucylulu_1989 said:I need a little help I’ve been offered a new job that is term time only but is not salary paid how does that work with taxs credit and eventually when they swap everything over to uc I will be working 22 hours working 38 weeks of the year so won’t be getting paid for the half terms.#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3660 -
Tax credit as Alice has said is based on your yearly salary. So it will not be effected.
UC works on your monthly salary, so if your pay is not separated into 12 monthly chunks then look at UC for a top up. This will take into account dips for Easter and Summer breaks.Proud to have dealt with our debtsStarting debt 2005 £65.7K.

Not all staff working in a school are salaried, some are paid when they work and not when they don't.JGB1955 said:

There are special rules for people who work in educational settings and don't work during holidays etc. Pretty sure they class you as working your normal hours all year.0
