Do Halifax do a hard credit check for this card if I have a Halifax account? Also how long does it take for the cars to arrive?
I'm looking to use the foreign fee free offer but I'm flying out on 2 weeks so will I even receive everything in time?

Yes, it's a new credit product so they will carry out a full credit history check. If approved, the cards normally arrive within 7-10 working days.0

I applied for one of these cards at the beginning of the year and had a Halifax current account at the time, they did not conduct a hard credit search on me.Can’t remember exactly how long the card took to arrive, however I don’t think it was longer than a week.0

I recently obtained a Halifax Clarity credit card (to replace Jaja which is closing), and Equifax are not showing any hard searches on my credit report. I've checked TransUnion as well and there are no hard searches there either. I have had no previous dealings with Halifax.0

Not all 3 CRA’s are used by every lender, each lender will use one, two or all three CRA’s and this will be reflected by a hard credit search and then monthly account reporting.jbuchanangb said:I recently obtained a Halifax Clarity credit card (to replace Jaja which is closing), and Equifax are not showing any hard searches on my credit report. hi there,
i rarely spend with credit card when abroad, but only mainly for if i buy a bigger ticket item.
i am therefore thinking of opening this credit card as it may be useful.
but i am wondering, can this card also be used as a normal credit card in the UK too ?
i also always intend to pay in full, so not too worried if other cards can give a marginally better interest rate.
thanks.0 -
Yes, it operates as a regular credit card does in the UK.I believe there is currently a £20 gift cash add on offer for new customers.1

I am being a bit dim regarding cash withdrawals from say, an ATM at bank in Europe and I withdraw, for instance, a hundred euros when does Halifax start charging interest. From that point on or statement date?0

Each CC company will vary with this, hopefully somebody with a Halifax Clarity card will be along to ‘clarify’ their statement terms and conditions relating to interest charges and when.Victors_Bruvver said:I am being a bit dim regarding cash withdrawals from say, an ATM at bank in Europe and I withdraw, for instance, a hundred euros when does Halifax start charging interest. My Zopa CC which is forex fee free only charges a £3 cash withdrawal fee and no separate cash interest, just standard interest at point of purchase/withdrawal which is then calculated at statement and only applied to the account if statement not paid in full.
Personally, I wouldn’t be withdrawing cash on a credit card anyway. There are fires fee free debit cards such as chase or Kroo that could be used for this.
If you believe you can, you will. If you believe you can't, you won't.

From that point on or statement date?Interest is charged from the point of withdrawal until repayment. If you want to avoid interest, you can make a payment to cover the cash withdrawal (assuming you have access to a secure internet connection whilst abroad), but you need to wait until the withdrawal appears on your account - which may not be immediately. But if you just pay the full balance when the statement arrives, the amount of interest will be small - assuming you're not withdrawing thousands of pounds-worth. And it will usually be more than offset by the fact that Halifax won't charge a withdrawal fee (although be aware that the ATM operator may charge a fee).

You also need to make sure the previous statement balance is paid off in full. Payments always go towards a statemented balance before unstatementedCliveOfIndia said:Victors_Bruvver said:I am being a bit dim regarding cash withdrawals from say, an ATM at bank in Europe and I withdraw, for instance, a hundred euros when does Halifax start charging interest.
