My friends keep theirs under their bed in the master bedroom. They have a frame that is just tall enough to let it slide underneath, and once it's under there you can't see it as they have a valance on the bed that nearly reaches the floor

That's pretty clever! Sadly ours is nothing like tall enough, plus I suspect it'd be a right mission getting it up the stairs!

I have a Thule Ranger 90 fabric roof box which is pretty good and doesnt take up too much storage (it is 280 litres). Alternatively you can hire roof boxes from some places so maybe you dont need to own one.

That horse has bolter sadly, as the proud owner of a huge roof box lol. My brother coincidentally had just got a fabric one, due to cost originally but then realised the benefits!

When we no longer need it om sure it'll make a great pond lol

Bolt it to an outside wall and put some trellis and climbing plants around it?

Storage/garage rental?  prob not cost effective unless you've got a load of other stuff to store as well

  • 1. Roof boxes cost a fortune to buy.......have you thought about selling it and hiring one when you need it ? That could save money in the long run.
    2. Roof boxes are so difficult to store......it's the reason that virtually every one I have ever bought second hand has had some kind of damage. This has reduced its value, sometimes quite considerably.
    3. The only way to store it and have any chance of limiting damage is to get it off the floor, against the ceiling either in a garage or spare room.
