OVO cancelling replacement meter appointments

Hi, has anyone had any luck with OVO energy and getting a replacement meter? Our gas meter has been broken for over two months. We still have gas but we are unable to see our usage or submit meter readings. We had an appointment rescheduled twice and then cancelled due to lack of engineers. I have called OVO to complain as the next available appointment is another 7 weeks away. OVO has said it isn't their responsibility/fault with organising appointments as these are done by SMSPLC, however, they are an extension of the company! I have threatened to stop paying my bill as I cannot guarantee my usage. I have raised a complaint but they have said the soonest someone can get back to me is 2-5 working days - today is a Friday so likely end of next week! Any advise on getting this sorted!?

They have 8 weeks to respond to a complaint.  So 2-5 days is pretty good.

They are ultimately responsible for maintaining the gas meter, under the Gas Act. https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1986/44/schedule/2B/paragraph/3 .  Outsourcing the work to someone else doesn't stop it being their responsibility.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

Don't forget to claim compensation for the missed appointments/if your meter's not recording energy use correctly

  • We have had the same thing. Electric meter has been broken since we brought the house back in January. I’ve even tried phoning the smc company directly and they tell me they don’t have engineers in the area and will monitor it. I’ve said to them how are you charging me, we aren’t living in the property fully atm due to not having a bathroom (which is clear by the lack of gas use) and they just tell me they estimate, I’ve queried how they estimate when 1. We’ve only just brought the house and they have no examples of energy use and 2. We aren’t living there. The people on the phone are nice but it is so frustrating
