eBay -TJ Hughes Click and Collect

Hi, has anyone else had problems with TJ Hughes as a click and collect facility? Had an eBay item sent there, Royal Mail tracking showed delivery but I didn't receive a collection code. Called into the (Newcastle) store and staff couldn't locate the item, disputed that Royal Mail delivered it and said that items are not routinely scanned into the store.
Following a complaint to the Company I have now received the below email from the store manager. I find it beyond belief that items are not scanned and wonder whether this is usual at TJ Hughes, or just the Newcastle store.
"We have been forwarded an email you sent to complain about a parcel that was sent instore for yourself, now we have tried to talk to you about instore that we obviously just receive the parcels we scan yodel and collect+ parcels instore but we don’t scan any eBay or royal mail parcels into store as we have no way of doing that. I have seen that the tracking says it was delivered here unless you have a picture from royal mail as proof that it was delivered here I’m sorry to say but we don’t have your parcel as we have checked and double checked for you to see if it is there and we cant find it. All parcels that we receive get kept in a secure location so no public access to it so we don’t understand where your parcel could of went. If you have sent it tracked and paid for delivery through royal mail they will be liable to cover it and should be reimbursed from them as we have no way of knowing if that parcel actually came through our doors and was actually accepted by a member of staff."

There seems to be quite a few mentions on various forums at the moment about non scanning of parcels by various click and collect shops, that suggests a wider issue with the system.
Assuming this was a click and collect order where you choose from an option supplied by ebay, and you didn't just opt manually for click and collect and add the address yourself then normally package would either go back to seller if uncollected (and this can't happen as shop can't find it) or you should be able to argue and win an INR as click and collect isn't finalised until buyer collects.
I haven't used c and c for years, too many issues as a seller with people not collecting, so you might need to double check the system hasn't changed and my info is still correct.
